Duey Whitfield

Growing up in a home that did not attend Church with a dad that wasn’t saved, God saw fit to use a neighbor of ours to share the Gospel with me. It was during a time when he was leading his family in Bible-time that I was invited in and he shared the Gospel with me. Once I heard the Word of God, the Spirit of God convicted me of my sin. I am thankful that in that moment I was able to call upon the name of the Lord for forgiveness of sins and to save my soul. I am thankful that as a 10 year old boy that I was told how I could know for sure heaven would be my home if my life on this earth were to end. My neighbor then took me back and forth to Church until getting me introduced to the Bus Captain. I am thankful for an old-fashioned Baptist Church that cared enough for me to run that bus and get me to Sunday school.

It was in 2003 that the Lord spoke to my heart about preaching His Word to the Spanish speaking population here in the US through the local Church. During our Mission’s Conference at our home Church, God separated us for this task. Shortly after, the Lord allowed me to attend language school in Mexico. We are thankful that we are able to take the Word of God to these folks and lead them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and then see them discipled in true Biblical Holiness, Following God and Loving others.

In a rare moment of downtime, I love to spend time with our family and read.

I was saved on March 22, 2000 in Owensboro, KY after sitting in a church service and hearing a message and the Holy Spirit convicting me during the invitation.  I remember the pastor saying, “It is not baptism that saves you, it is a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.”  He went on to say more but I was automatically thinking about my earlier profession when I was younger.  I could only remember being baptized but I couldn’t remember much about my going forward.  The Lord convicted me of my sin and I repented and asked the Lord to save me.  It was around that time that my husband and I started growing in the Lord.  We moved from Kentucky back to Hickory, N.C. where the Lord directed us to Tabernacle Baptist Church.  It is here that we surrendered to missions and my husband accepted the call to reach the Spanish speaking population in the United States.

I have served with joy in Ladies’, children’s, youth, bus and soul winning ministries.  The Lord has been so good to me and I am always willing and delighted to serve wherever there is a need.

I enjoy time of fellowship with friends and family. I also look forward to shopping opportunities as they are availed to me.
